Kappa League...
Since 1968, the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has sponsored a program known as "Kappa Instructional Leadership League" (Kappa League). Kappa League is a program for the educational, occupational and social guidance of male high school level students.
The Kappa League began at Main LeRoy Locke High School located in Los Angeles, CA and has grown nationwide throughout the various chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. It is designed to help young men grow and develop their leadership skills in every phase of human endeavor. Through club-oriented activities, the membership undertakes challenging and rewarding experiences, which lead to the achievement of worthy academic, professional and vocational goals. Additionally, the Kappa League assists in the development of outstanding social skills.
The nucleus and primary focus of the Kappa League revolves around the "Five Phases" which arc:
- Self Identity: discipline, assurance, awareness and appearance
- Training: academic, career choice, preparation and organization
- Competition: politics, career advancement and sports
- Social: communication, etiquette and manners
- Health Education: physical, sex and drug education, as well as health and safety
- The selection of courses leading to vocations compatible with their aptitudes and personalities.
- In acquiring employment and maintaining successful progress in their chosen fields. In addition, the program assists parents in the development of their children by providing parents the opportunity to discuss problems regarding their child's future with individuals who have achieved success in the chosen professions and vocations.
- To advise youth in the value of higher education.
